Scrapin the Coast 2010
Biloxi, MS (June 30, 2010) - The Empress Audio Scrapin’ the Coast 2010 event set records across the board at the Biloxi Coast Coliseum, June 24-27. Vendor and show vehicle count was up. Most importantly the attendance was strong.
AVR’s David Turner told 12voltnews.com from the event floor Saturday morning at 10:30 “The floor inside the coliseum is already very busy. Yesterday was a mad house. We are here with Kenwood supporting Floyd Seal and Empress Audio and are in the prime booth with Empress Audio at the entrance where the crowd comes in. It’s awesome”
Scrapin’ the Coast has become the major show along the Gulf Coast in recent years. The car and truck show draws hundreds of the best and most outrageous vehicles in the south. Live bands, frame draggin, bikini, hydraulic and airbag contests draw crowds like a magnet. On stage contests keep the crowd pumped. How about this – one side of the crowd yells Kenwood and the other side chants Empress Audio. That will build those brands in the minds of several hundred in front of the stage as Kenwood t-shirts and potentially valuable ping pong balls were shot into the air from an air cannon.
Speaking for Empress Audio Raymond Ladner said “Our sales were up over last year for the weekend. Our retail store had very good traffic from the overall promotion of the Scrapin’ the Coast event and everything was great at the show. Support from our vendors was super. Tory Sander from Alpine, Scott Darby from JL Audio, Jimmy Chauffe from Pioneer and the AVR team of David Turner and Rob Stauber were fantastic. Traffic the first two days after the event has been very strong at the store”.
Jimmy Chauffe, Pioneer’s District Sales Manager relayed to 12voltnews.com “This was one of the best selling shows I have worked in a long time. Members of the 12volt industry came together in the Empress Audio booth and sold lots of product. Pioneer product was moving out the door. Consumers were excited about 12volt products – that always makes a show fun to work”.
“This year’s show was terrific. The crowd on Saturday was unbelievable. So many people. We had a great sales weekend here and at the store too. We are going to start planning next year’s show in a few days. Again thank you to all our vendors and employees for a great job” Floyd Seal, Empress Audio told 12voltnews.com.
Scrapin’ the Coast is billed as the wildest and craziest show on the coast – and it lives up to that billing every year. This year the car show boasted 26 classes, the truck show had 29 classes and the USACi competition was a triple pointer. The AVR/Kenwood Scion tC was one of the best on the show grounds. Spike TV was on hand Friday for a “Little People’ wrestling contest.
Brett Shank, Sound Solutions, told 12voltnews.com “We had a number of cars on display at the show and several of our staff were on hand. We finished first in our class in the SPL judging. This event always creates excitement with local consumers”.
The setting of the Scrapin’ the Coast event is so spectacular. Show vehicles are positioned under 100 year old trees with beaches and the Gulf of Mexico in the background just across Highway 90.
With the devastating oil spill in the Gulf now running over 2 months the phrase “Scrapin the Coast” has taken on a new meaning for everyone along the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Businesses of all types, including 12volt retailers, are suffering tremendous losses. Please keep those along the coast in your thoughts and lend a helping hand when possible.
A big 12voltnews.com thanks to David Turner for all the images and Jimmy Chauffe also.
